The event is free and open to the public. The Brainerd Lakes Curling Club is located in the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds.
The weekend’s curling schedule:
Friday 7 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. 2 p.m. 7 p.m.
Sunday 9 a.m. 2 p.m.
The winners and runners-up in both the men’s and women’s classes will advance to the U18 National Championships.
The women’s teams are from Duluth, Mankato and St. Paul. The men’s teams are from Bemidji, Blaine and St. Paul (two teams).
“We’re really excited about hosting these young curlers this weekend,” said Mary Jo Hamilton, president of the Brainerd Lakes Curling Club. “It’ll be a lot of fun for our members and the community to watch these very talented curlers. The competition will be very intense because there’s a lot on the line, so I hope we have nice crowds to cheer them on. It’s also a great opportunity for the community to check out our facilities and learn a little about the great sport of curling.”
