Our History

Learn about how Brainerd Lakes Curling Association came to be, it's location, generous donations and more

Our Genesis:

In a wonderful display of generosity, a benevolent donor, Fran Holden, envisioned a curling haven for the Brainerd Lakes community. With this vision and support, the dream of having a dedicated curling facility in our area began to take shape.

Our Location

Strategically nestled in the Crow Wing County Fairground, our curling facility finds its home behind the Food Building on the West side. This location doesn't just resonate with the spirit of the sport but also symbolizes community and togetherness.

A Dual Purpose

While winter sees the facility transformed into a curling paradise for six months under the stewardship of the Brainerd Lakes Curling Association, the warmer half of the year witnesses its metamorphosis as an integral part of the Crow Wing County Fair, making it a year-round hub of activity and community engagement.

Our Inception

With determination and community spirit driving us, our facility's doors swung open, ready for the first stone to slide across the ice in January 2012. This marked a milestone not just for us but for every curling enthusiast in the region.

Leagues & Engagement:

As per interest and community demand, we are proud to offer a plethora of league options: Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, and Doubles leagues. Also Learn to Curl classes and up & coming Youth Curling program.
Our facility, located at 2000 SE 13th St

Support & Growth:

While our foundation was laid with immense generosity, our ambitions soar high. We're on a mission to elevate our good facility to a great one. To this end, the Brainerd Lakes Curling Association continues its fundraising efforts. We welcome and deeply appreciate support in the form of donations or sponsorships from individuals and businesses alike. Together, we can make our facility a beacon for curling enthusiasts everywhere.

This was the club's first ever 8-ender! A rare feat similar to a hole-in-one in golf or perfect game in baseball. So rare that it was commemorated with tattoos ;)
